Beyond KBK

Letter from the author:

I just want to say thank you to everyone who ever invested time and energy in KBK. To date, it is the biggest project I've ever had the pleasure of putting together and its thanks to all of you loyal tutors and learners.

For my tutors:

It wasn't easy waking up early on Saturdays and Sundays to teach. But it was thanks to all of your devotion: those who took on multiple learners, those who stuck with us for years. Now, I'm at college and I don't have the time to continue KBK's legacy but I STILL receive emails telling me how impactful you all were on these learners' lives. I love you all.

For my learners:

It has been my absolute pleasure to work with all of you. Though I may not have been the one teaching you, I have always felt as though I was there for every lesson, learning with you, growing with you. And look how far we have come. Your all grown up now and so am I.

Your Friend, Dax

Online Youth Support Opportunities

Beyond a tutoring organization, KBK was a place for peers to return to week after week. It became a way to create and maintain friendships. Especially when the pandemic was unfolding, nothing was more valuable. The same applies today.

Big Brothers Big Sisters of America

n addition to adult mentors, Big Brothers Big Sisters offers a peer mentorship program where youth can connect with older peers who guide and support them in personal growth and development. Their program is designed to provide mentorship through shared experiences.

Peer Health Exchange

Peer Health Exchange trains young people to deliver health education workshops to their peers in schools. The platform empowers students to be peer mentors and educators, focusing on topics like mental health, relationships, and well-being.

Online Tutoring Opportunities

For others, the 'helping' they provided was through academic support. This is the spirit of KBK and why we were originally founded. Teaching can be one of the most rewarding ways to give back.

Step Up Tutoring

San Diego Opportunities

The most important part of KBK was the connections and there is no better place to do that than out in your own community. Since KBK has been primarily San Diego based, I figure I would throw in a few local recommendations.
